i know jaw surgery is performed for cosmetic reasons all the time though for transgendered women but they are altering their mandibles to look less masculine. My aesthetic needs are different.Chloe Adisson answers:My teeth aren't vertically aligned and the idea of breaking my jaw to align then frightens me enough to leave well enough alone. Everyone has an imperfection and if youre happy with your teeth I wouldn't go messing around with your bone structure.Sandy asks…Can cosmetic surgery really make an individual look unrecognisable?I've been thinking about this recently. Surely, despite having several facial procedures (nose jobs, chin implants and even going as far as having bone shaved off parts of the face to achieve a more 'ideal aesthetic look') someone would still look the same. Like the very essence of their physical identity - would you somehow be able to recognise them?
I don't know if it's at all possible to change a face so much by having a variety of cosmetic procedures that you look unrecognisable - anyone wanna shed any light?Chloe Adisson answers:Depends On The Surgeon And Your Bone StructureLaura asks…Is craniofacial surgery ever performed on people without deformities?...people having it done for aesthetic reasons?Chloe Adisson answers:Craniofacial surgery would be performed on persons with birth defects, accidental crushing, burns, and for removal of cancerous or other growths from inside or outside the skull.
Persons who wish to change a particular size or shape of a feature can ask for it and pay for it.
Persons wishing to change identities also can ask and pay for it.Paul asks…Any Asians who had plastic surgery? Are there any Asians out there who had plastic surgery to their skull structure (for aesthetic purposes, not due to deformities), as in mandibular (jaw) reduction or other skull reduction? If so, were you satisfied? Where did you have it done? And how can I find good surgeons?Chloe Adisson answers:For me I'm Filipina and I'm not a satisfied to having a plastic surgery in our country the Philippines and for me I'm not to do of any surgeon of any part of my body and I'm stayed to be a natural beauty and beautiful is inside and out of our personality, attitude, being glamorous, appealing, and gorgeous and I believe that ugly and beauty are the same level and I think a few Filipino people were having to undergo to surgeon of any part of their body and afterwards the having an improving of their some parts of the body and the others they having a cause an infections during to having an operations and few others were died while they undergo of an operation of their parts of the body.and that God is very created of our lives and we will must be to accept it of what any parts of our body that we will have it and we must be a contented of our lives and always a positive thinking and be happy with our loved onesSharon asks…SURVEY: Would you ever consider plastic surgery for yourself? Not reconstructive plastic surgery, I mean plastic surgery purely for cosmetic aesthetics?Chloe Adisson answers:My boobs are all natural, baby, and it's staying that way.Powered by Yahoo! There is no scientific evidence supporting HCG as a weight loss strategy. Scientists have actually investigated this “miracle cure for obesity.”
Not only is the diet no more effective than calorie restriction alone, the HCG also doesn’t affect hunger or other more subjective factors of dieting.
Experts in the supplement industry say the products aren't legal and don't work. Because HCG is a peptide hormone, it would be broken down by the stomach and rendered ineffective,Maria asks…When is the best time to start the HCG drops diet?I heard its best to wait until after your period to start the drops so you can get a full 21 days of it in your system. Is this true or can you start the drops anytime?Chloe Adisson answers:All of the drops are bogus based on a sampling by the FTC. If you read the label it will state the product "does not contain any hormone" or contains a "similar amino acid"
A 500 calorie per day diet is considered anorexic. Mix it with a hormone from pregnant women's urine and you get a miracle diet!
All over the counter hcg products were announced as illegal and fraudulent by the FDA on January 24, 2011. Testing concluded that all over the counter oral and injection products on the market have little to no real hcg in them but most a similar synthetic hormone. I was in GNC several weeks ago. They carry three brands of hcg drops and not one of them has any hcg in them. The well trained salesman even admitted it when I mentioned it. They contained "similar hormones" or amino acids.
Sort of like I'm going to sell you this Toyota Prius but it is really a Ford Focus but we're going to put a price tag on it that says it is a Toyota Prius. Excuse me?
Anyone that lost weight especially with the drops did it because they ate fewer calories than they burned. The hcg acted as the placebo to help them lose the weight.
The only approved use for hcg is to increase fertility in both men and women.
Next year will mark 60 years since this fraudulent science was started.
The doctors exploiting this benign hormone with the ability to prescribe injections can't even agree on how it works. Some say it releases stored fat calories into the system. Others say it acts as an appetite suppressant.
Neither explanation justifies the weight loss in the individuals taking the oral drops with NO hcg in them that still lost weight. I am confident the hcg diet has a 95% failure rate just like every other controversial diet plan out there.
By the way, the expensive "clinical injections" are not covered by insurance since it is not FDA approved. What doctor wouldn't want to get an "all cash" practice going?
Check out these clips before going further. Just aired a few weeks ago.
So the question is are you willing to risk your health based on testimonials, not research, and the statements from doctors in this all cash business?Susan asks…Is this supposed to happen with the hcg diet drops from GNC?Ok, so I'm 13. I started the hcg diet two days ago, on Sunday. I did the 2 loading days, and actually lost 2 pounds since Ive started. Today, about 1:00, I weighed myself, right after lunch, and I had gained weight. will it go away tomorrow morning?Chloe Adisson answers:Why are you on a diet at 13?Mark asks…what do you think about the HCG diet drops?i need real testimonies! i want to try this diet i heard it was very successful, i heard good and bad things about it. i also did my research and it proves me rite on how successful it is.Chloe Adisson answers:My sister and I ordered the couples program so we could split the price and we only had to pay $65 each so that was a great deal to me. I started the diet on March 26 and its is my 5th day and I have already lost 6lbs. The first two days(out of the 5) were gorging out on all my favorite food and I only gained 1 lb . You really have to stick to the foods that are required. The 3rd day was really hard I was so hungry but it is getting easier each day. I am very pleased with the results and I cant wait to weigh again in the morning. I have been on diets all my life and failed at each one of them. I started out at 215 but now I am down to 209.So actually I have lost 6lbs in 2 days . I don't know how I made it the first two days but I have and I am not giving up. It is too soon to know if the drops are what is really working or the 500 calories. All I know is I am losing weight!Lizzie asks…Doesn't the HCG diet drops come from pregnant women? They make the drops and shots from the hcg hormone found in the urine of pregnant women.
If pregnant women put on weight during pregnancy how would that hormone make you lose weight?Chloe Adisson answers:All over the counter HCG products were banned as fraudulent by the FDA three weeks ago.
I'm not buying the Hcg makes just baby stuff.
Why do so many women have trouble losing the extra pounds added during pregnancy?
Why do they have extra pounds after pregnancy if the Hcg tells the body to release stored fat supplies?

Return to Aromatherapy Essential Oils
http://bit.ly/nSU5sO~vera.htmlGeorge asks…Aloe Vera Plant Care?I recently "rescued" an Aloe Vera plant from an apartment close to mine.
The tenant had left the plant behind when they moved, and it was a very sad plant.
I think it may have been used as an ash try a little too- because it reeked of cigs.
I have been caring for this plant for about a month now, and while it doesn't look dead- it doesn't look good either.
It lays over on it's side- I don't believe I am over watering it. I also see little baby plants in the pot- where do these come from?
Is the Aloe just beyond helping?
Thanks!
What's up with it?Chloe Adisson answers:We rescued a aloe plant too-
First thing I would do is change out the soil- when you change the soil put some rocks or marbles or something in the bottom so when you water it, the extra water has somewhere to go, instead of rotting the roots.
Our plant has made about 15 new plants since we have changed the soil about 2 months ago- i don't know where they come from, since they are easily pulled out of the dirt- we move the new ones around to give them more space.
I would also try talking to the plant if it still looks sad- or put a cigarette in there- it might be jonesin for some nicotine or something.
Keep out of direct light, and put inside somewhere the temp is constant.Robert asks…how do I care for an aloe vera plant?I just planted a cactus garden on my porch and my aloe plant is brown, I keep watering it but how do I save it from dying?Chloe Adisson answers:You're over watering it. They grow in very hot countries and don't like a lot of water. They store water in their own leaves. Water very sparingly and in the summer give it a couple of really good soaks (like there's been a rainstorm.Chris asks…What is the best way to care for aloe vera plant? How much light, water?Chloe Adisson answers:Plenty of sun, let the soil dry out between waterings. Aloe vera is a succulent plant, so reduce the watering during the winter (for temperate climates). If you want a very full plant, break off pieces regularly (to promote more growth). If you kill this plant, hang up your gardening gloves forever.Powered by Yahoo! Answers

Copyright As Censorship: Newport Television Abusing DMCA To Try To Silence Criticism
The crux of Free Press' argument is that local TV stations are skirting media ownership rules by setting up joint operations with other channels to share costs. Basically, it allows operations to consolidate without technically being owned by the same operation. As an example, they pointed to Newport's WAWS-TV and WTEV-TV, which share services and have a consolidated news room. They included a screenshot of the two websites and logos briefly in a video discussing this. Free Press points to this video, but, for the life of me, I can't see either station mentioned or their logos anywhere.
Either way, showing a screenshot and a log in such cases is clearly not a copyright violation at all. But Newport Television not only sent a bogus cease-and-desist (embedded below) to Free Press, but also issued a bogus DMCA takedown to YouTube, who took down the video. Free Press, of course, is not one to back down and has filed a counternotice and responded sternly to Newport Television, which has just called a lot more attention to its news sharing practices, whether you think they're a good idea or a bad idea.
This is a clear case of Newport Television abusing copyright law and the DMCA, in particular, to stifle and censor critical commentary. Even if you disagree with Free Press on this issue (as I do), I at least believe they have the right to be heard. In fact, if anything, Newport Television's actions here make me more sympathetic to Free Press' position here than I would be otherwise.

Congress Condemns Belarus For Doing A Bunch Of Things It Wants To Do
The Government of Belarus has restricted freedom of expression on the Internet by requiring Internet Service Providers to maintain data on Internet users and the sites they view and to provide such data to officials upon request, and by creating a government body with the authority to require Internet Service Providers to block Web sites.Fascinating. Because, Congress here in the US is currently debating two bills that seem to do exactly that as well. There's the data retention bill (disguised as an anti-child porn bill) and there's the PROTECT IP Act, which would give the government power to require ISPs to effectively block web sites. It's as if Congress doesn't even realize what it's doing and what it's saying.

iPhoto, GarageBand & iMovie updated in Mac App Store (Updated)

A brief moment of confusion overtook us this morning as we got reports of new versions of GarageBand (6.0.4), iMovie (9.0.4) and iPhoto (9.1.5), with minor bug fixes plus tweaks to iMovie's ability to import projects from the iOS editions of the app.
When several of us fired up Software Update to grab the new builds, the updates were nowhere to be seen -- yet our tipster was insistent that the new updates were there. Our friends at MacUpdate also had them listed... and that's where we figured out the mystery. So far, only the Mac App Store versions of the apps have been revised; the conventionally-installed iLife versions have not yet been released.
While we're sure the 'classic' updates will be forthcoming momentarily, this split-update did give us a moment's pause. As far as we can recall, this is the first time any of Apple's products have been available in newer versions on the MAS than via Software Update. Times, they are a-changin'.
Thanks, Jason!
Update: iMovie, GarageBand, and iPhoto updates are now showing up in Software Update.
Update 2: iWeb 3.0.4 and iDVD 7.1.2 are also available in Software Update.

Soap Media
It's way early to handicap anything along the scale of winners and losers, but many things are already obvious. Plus has conquered the media, but what of it? Unlike Apple, which changed the media with the iPad, Google has slapped a fresh coat of paint on the social chat room that was Friendfeed and provided a reasonably safe bet that the work we put in will be accessible for some substantial time to come. Worth investing in the stream of notifications as we remodel our graphs one more time. Without the aggregation of citations, Plus is more an interactive manual for itself than anything disruptive. Google has the time and motivation to get everyone in their seats before starting the game, and we're comfortable enough waiting while we check our old familiar streams to see what we're missing. This time around, we're dealing with a platform that won't collapse when Track is turned on.Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/c6mEuc7aXB0/

How Apple Led The High-Stakes Patent Poker Win Against Google, Sealing Ballmer?s Promise
"It's not like Android's free. Android has a patent fee. You do have to license patents." That was Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in an interview last year with The Wall Street Journal. At the time, Microsoft was on the verge of releasing their first Windows Phone 7 devices, and knew their best hope in the market would be to go after Android ? the same OS which quickly ran Windows Mobile into extinction. In the months that have followed, right or wrong, it looks like Microsoft is slowly but surely forcing Google's OEM partners for Android to agree with this stance. The reality is that for an increasing number of these partners now, Android is not free. It doesn't require thelicensingfees that Windows Phone does, but it does require a patent fee. A fee paid to Microsoft, not Google, mind you. If Microsoft is able to convince (or force) Samsung to pay this fee as well, it's likely lights out for Android as a free OS, as Tom Krazit rightly points out on paidContent today. And with Microsoft and now HP offering their own rival mobile OSes backed by a vast array of patent protection, some of these OEM partners may begin to think twice about their firm Android commitments. At least, that's undoubtedly Microsoft's hope. Android as a free mobile OS that rivals iOS in terms of functionality is anunbelievablevalue proposition. But Android as an OS that requires you to pay Microsoft for each unit shipped is less so.Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/vOIuYwGmtOY/
Modern community building
The Stack Exchange network is already up to 51 sites on diverse topics, from math to cooking to science fiction. Each site is a community on its own, and each community has its own needs and values. Pouring a big fat algorithm in equal measures on top of 51 different groups of people does not always work the way you might hope it would work. Maybe that?s why the super-algorithm companies (like Google) tend to suck when they try to build social applications.
Our goal as a company is to incubate each of these 51 communities?to get them to critical mass. Critical mass is that magic moment when the community has enough activity that it grows by itself.
Building communities on the Internet is a new kind of profession. There are an awful lot of technology companies, founded by programmers, who think they are building communities on the Internet, but they?re really just building software and wondering why the community doesn?t magically show up.
Stack Exchange is trying really hard not to suck at building communities. I would say we?re earning a solid B so far, but we?re working really hard at learning... doing little experiments and getting early results. And one thing we noticed is that the pure, algorithmic approach can?t possibly work for different communities: you need a political/social approach. That is, you need smart human beings to use smart human judgment and cultivate each community individually.
Or, to use a metaphor that has been on my mind, you can?t use a robot to train a puppy. Every puppy is different.
With 51 communities and a new one opening almost every week, our small team of four community managers are doing a great job but they just don?t have the bandwidth to help cultivate every site. So we depend on the most active, enthusiastic users to promote their own communities and help them flourish. But these users are usually domain experts, not community organization experts.
So what I plan to do is build a team of super-evangelists here at Stack Exchange to serve as backup. Sort of like Lady Gaga?s backup dancers, but probably without as many muscles, they are not onstage to lead; they?re there to fill up the stage with more hotness than one person can provide.
This job will be sort of like being a community organizer at a non-profit. It combines elements of marketing, PR, and sales, but it?s really something different. I don?t expect that there are a lot of people out there who already kn0w how to do this well, so I?m going to train them, personally. Not that I know how to do this, but we?ll learn together. Every workday is going to start with a huddle at 9am and a plan for the day?s activities and an intensive six hours of work. Every workday is going to end with an hour of learning... reading Kawasaki and Godin and Ries and Trout, talking with invited experts, meeting with members of the community about what worked and what didn?t worked. Everyone who joins the program (and survives for a year) will come out with an almost supernatural ability to take a dead, lifeless site on the internet and make it into the hottest bar in town. That?s a skill worth learning for the 21st century.
If you or someone you know is enthusiastic, energetic, super-outgoing (a social connector), a great communicator (capable of sending 50 personal emails in an afternoon), with some training in psychology, political science, economics, philosophy, or the humanities in general, and you?re looking for an alternative to a dead-end mailroom job at a PR agency, this is a rare opportunity... please apply.

MobileMe webmail balks at political bulk mailings

Unfortunately, as originally reported by John Brownlee at Cult of Mac, it looks like Apple may be filtering out emails sent from the online MobileMe client based on content. The story is that a user was trying to send an email mentioning "Authoritarian Oppressive Regimes," and when sent, those messages would not go through to their intended recipients, with no error message back from Apple. Cult of Mac sent a few more test messages through the system, and found that simpler emails with less political messages made it through just fine.
There's a few things to note here: First, this is the web client only -- there's no indication that any emails sent via MobileMe's SMTP/IMAP interface are being blocked in this way. Second, Apple has replied to the CoM story to say that certain messages caught by spam filters may be blocked from sending through the web client, but that "Apple is not blocking MobileMe email due to political content." Anyone having a problem sending anything through MobileMe is encouraged to contact MobileMe support.
Perhaps most importantly, when Apple's rep was asked why no error message was given, there was no further comment. That's perhaps the biggest problem here -- Apple can do what it wants with its own service (even if that's to block messages based on political content, as unlikely as that actually is, a private service can do it), but Apple should at least notify users when messages are being blocked.
You could argue that Apple is trying to discourage mass email spammers from abusing the MobileMe system, and because of that doesn't want to clue spammers in on which message can and can't go through. That's a legitimate concern, but even so, if non-spammer customers are being blocked, there needs to be some way for them to be informed about the issue so it can be fixed.

Verbling Links Up Language Learners With Native Speakers Through Live Video Chat
It's a well known fact that people improve foreign language skills when interacting and communicating with other people who speak the same foreign language. Y Combinator-backed Verbling is launching today as a easy to use online conversation exchange for language learners, leveraging in-browser video chat. The site allows you to sign up and choose the language you want to learn. Since the site doesn't have a massive userbase just yet, Verbling hosts sessions as specific times daily (12 pm PT and 7 pm PT) where people can show up and chat with each other. Once you join the site during a session time, you are automatically paired with a language speaker who is fluent in the language you wish to learn. The site encourages users to talk to a number of different speakers within each session. Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/2koeNDzLPgw/
